Mkt to trade around 14,500-17,500 levels: Kotak Mah Bk

June 7th, 2008 · No Comments

The markets got off to a volatile start, seesawing wildly. However, selling pressure in late trade dented sentiment further and sent the indices tumbling into the red. The Nifty closed at 4,628 down 49 points, while the Sensex shut shop at 15,572 down 198 points.
C Jayaram of Kotak Mahindra Bank is unsure how much pain is left in the markets. “The Sensex is seen trading between 14,500 and 17,500. It is unlikely to go much below the 14,000-14,500 zone.”
Not much fresh money is getting raised for equities globally, he said. According to Jayaram, there are domestic concerns on corporate growth, and rupee weakness. “Oil price and its consequences are also the single biggest concern now. However, pressure may ease if crude settles at lower levels from here. But domestic growth remains strong and buying is seen at lower levels.”
